Dean started the business in 1994, nearly 25 years ago. He began in the Pollock Pines area and as the business grew, the service area expanded. Carter’s Carpet moved the office to El Dorado Hills in 2010, due to it being a much more central location. Karen started working with Dean in about 2008. The business had grown so much he needed office help, and she took over the accounting, payroll, and other general office duties.
Dean fell into the carpet cleaning industry right out of high school, and it stuck. He enjoyed the work and meeting different people on a daily basis. He also enjoyed seeing the immediate results of steam cleaning and carpet repairs. Eventually he came back to the Placerville area and opened his own business. It’s our customers who are the best part of the job. Most are fun and friendly, even if we only get to chat once a year, but we remember everyone. It’s our family name on this business and we truly take pride in the work we do and the staff who work for us.
Our kids aren’t quite old enough to work for the business yet. They help with small things, like shredding and filing. They do know the business from simply listening to us talk with customers on the phone.
